Julian Barratt is NSFW at Royal Court

Mighty Boosh star Julian Barratt is the newest cast member to be announced for Lucy Kirkwood’s new play at the Royal Court Theatre, NSFW, directed by Simon Godwin.

It premieres in the Theatre Downstairs on 31 October 2012 (previews from 25 October).

Barratt will be playing the role of the editor of the lad’s mag Doghouse. The play, which marks Kirkwood’s Royal Court debut, looks at the distorted world of today’s media industry through sex, money and photo-shop.

Julian Barratt‘s theatre credits include The Government Inspector at the Young Vic. He is best known for playing Howard Moon in cult show The Mighty Boosh which he co-wrote with Noel Fielding.

He joins the previously announced cast of Janie Dee, Sacha Dhawan, Kevin Doyle, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Esther Smith.

NSFW
(which stands for ‘Not Safe for Work’) runs at the Royal Court until 24 November.
