Elton John’s Normal Heart Beats in West End???

According to the The Times, Elton John and his partner David Furnish are considering bringing The Normal Heart to the West End. The Normal Heart,
written by Larry Kramer and originally produced Off-Broadway in 1985,
opened last week at Broadway’s John Golden Theatre to strong
reviews. Furnish describes the play as “an astonishing,
emotionally compelling piece of writing and a moving, fantastic piece of
theatre that the younger generation needs to see. Elton and I are
focused on making sure that they do.” Set in New York City
during the rise of AIDS, the play tells the story of a group of friends
who refuse to allow doctors, politicians, and the press hide the truth
about an unspoken epidemic Furnish and John – who believe the play
resonates today around issues of gay marriage and healthcare –
hope to get the production as widely seen as possible, which may include
a trip across the pond to help fund and mount a version here in London.
