Dr Who Takes on Crimefighting Role in Oxford???

Criminals in Oxfordshire had better watch out or they might find themselves on the wrong side of a Time Lord. Colin Baker, who starred as the sixth incarnation of Dr Who from 1984 to 1986, is shadowing members of the CID team at Oxford’s St Aldates Police Station in preparation for his upcoming role playing Inspector Morse in the national tour of House of Ghosts. Unlike recent screen-to-stage offerings, the play, which tours to 15 venues across the UK this autumn, is not an adaptation of the long-running television series but a new stage play inspired by the Colin Dexter novels. The play, which has been written by Alma Cullen, previews in Stevenage from 27 August 2010 and tours until 4 December. The piece is the latest in a long line of stage adaptations from Calibre Productions who have recently brought classics such as Porridge, Dad’s Army and ‘Allo ‘Allo to live audiences.
