Digital Theatre releases Young Vic’s Doll’s House for download

Digital Theatre has announced that the Young Vic’s acclaimed production of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House – which is due to return to the Young Vic next year – will be its next release.

A Doll’s House, the third collaboration between Digital Theatre and the Young Vic, is available to stream and download from the Digital Theatre website from today.

The production, which is adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Carrie Cracknell, stars Hattie Morahan as Nora and Dominic Rowan as Torvald.

The cast also features: Nick Fletcher (Nils Krogstad), Yolanda Kettle (Helene), Steve Toussaint (Doctor Rank), Lynne Verrall (Anna), Susannah Wise (Kristine Linde), Vincent Curson-Smith (Ivar Helmer), Jake Tuesley (Jon Helmer) and Dorothea MacGibbon (Emmy Helmer).

Digital Theatre, launched in 2009 by Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw, works in partnership with leading theatre companies to capture live performance authentically onscreen. A Doll’s House is the first production to be released since Digital Theatre launched an app for Samsung Smart TV last month.

Speaking to Whatsonstage.com, Delamere said: “As someone who has directed Tom Hardy, Kate Winslet and Colin Farrell early in their careers I see Hattie Morahan as a stand-out talent and a name to watch. Carrie Cracknell and Ian McNeil staged a dynamic vision of Iben’s masterpiece which brings the play and its themes urgently to life.”

As well as the Young Vic, Digital Theatre’s partner theatres include the Almeida, Bush, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, Royal Court, Royal Shakespeare Company and the Unicorn.
