Diana Rigg Mothers Everett in Garrick Pygmalion

Diana Rigg will take the role of Mrs Higgins in the upcoming Chichester transfer of Pygmalion which opens at the West End’s Garrick Theatre on 25 May 2011 (previews from 12 May).

The The Avengers and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service actress joins a cast which includes Rupert Everett, Kara Tointon and Peter Eyre.

Her extensive theatre credits include Medea (Evening Standard and Tony Awards for Best Actress), Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (Best Actress, Evening Standard), Mother Courage, Follies, Humble Boy, Suddenly Last Summer (Best Actress, Whatsonstage.com Awards), Honour and recently The Cherry Orchard and Hay Fever at Chichester.

Rigg plays Everett’s mother Mrs Higgins in Philip Prowse‘ production of George Bernard Shaw’s classic, a role taken last summer in Chichester by Stephanie Cole.

Rupert Everett reprises his Chichester role as Professor Henry Higgins, with a new Eliza Doolittle played by Strictly Come Dancing winner and former EastEnders star Kara Tointon.
