De Angelis & Eldridge Reflect on Decade at 503
As we enter the final few days of the ‘Noughties’, Theatre503 in Battersea has announced a week-long festival of plays, by writers including April de Angelis, David Eldridge and Amy Rosenthal, reflecting on the past ten years.
Established writers April de Angelis, David Eldridge, Fraser Grace, Phil Porter and Amy Rosenthal will join forces with newcomers on the 503Five scheme – Richard Marsh, Rex Obano, Lou Ramsden, Nimer Rashed and Beth Steel – with each writer tackling one year of the decade.
503Five has been newly established following an Organisational Development grant from the Arts Council, and comprises a group of five previously unproduced playwrights who will be resident with the venue for a year. The scheme aims to “place writers at the heart of the decision-making process of Theatre503”.
Decade will be directed by Paul Robinson, Tim Roseman, Gene David Kirk, Anthony Biggs and Jessica Beck. It’s followed, from 26 January to 20 February 2010, by Rex Obano’s Slaves, examining daily life inside Wandsworth prison, where Obano used to work.
