Clive Owen Plans Stage Comeback???

British screen star Clive Owen is reportedly itching to get back to the stage, if only he can find the right project. Owen’s last trod the boards in London in the 2001 West End revival of Peter Nichols’ A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, in which he played the father of a seriously handicapped child (and was succeeded by Eddie Izzard, opposite Victoria Hamilton). His other stage credits include the 1997 premiere of Patrick Marber’s tumultuous romance four-hander Closer (going on to star in for the eventual film version).

And it’s a new play he’s looking for now to provide his stage comeback vehicle. He told the Independent: “I have been looking at some options. I haven’t been on stage for quite a while so it’s really about finding a role I have a huge appetite to play … It is a big commitment taking on a theatre play, and I’ve just started to look at the idea. I have to find something I am really interested in.” He continued: “It would be good if it was a new play. It is always exciting to do new writing.”

Owen has become famous internationally for films including Children of Men, Inside Man, The International, Duplicity and his latest release, The Boys Are Back.
