‘Carrie Bradshaw’ Treads West End Boards???

In case you somehow missed it (and with the towering Philip Treacy feathered hat she was wearing, how could you?), Sarah Jessica Parker, aka Carrie Bradshaw from TV’s Sex and the City, was in Leicester Square last night for the world premiere of Sex and the City: The Movie. And, if the actress gets her way, she may be back in the area at some point to make her West End debut.

“I would be honoured to star in a play (here),” said Parker. “It just hasn’t worked out scheduling-wise, but I would love to. It’s sort of a destination point for an actor, isn’t it?” The actress’ husband, Matthew Broderick, is a regular on the Broadway, where his credits include Leo Bloom in The Producers.

Parker’s Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall – who was also in attendance along with fellow co-stars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon – made her West End debut in Peter Hall’s 2005 production of Whose Life Is It Anyway? and returned in 2006 to star in David Mamet’s The Cryptogram at the Donmar Warehouse (See News, 14 Jul 2006).
