Everyone remembers the scene in which Tom Hanks and Robert Loggia play the giant piano in F.A.O. Schwarz and now Big the Musical could be making its way across the pond to the West End stage.

Adapted for the stage in 1996, the Broadway production was directed by Mike Ockrent, featuring music by David Shire, lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and choreography by Susan Stroman. Whilst it was nominated for five Tony Awards, (Best Actress, Supporting Actor, Book, Score, and Choreography), it closed after just 193 performances.

After some extensive reworking, it is rumoured that producers are eyeing one of the larger West End houses for an opening early next year.

The show is the third this week to be tipped for a transfer, with Tony-winners The King and I and Hedwig and the Angry Inch suggested as the next big Broadway shows on their way to London.
