– …and we’re bigger and better than ever! With over 46,000 votes in our tenth Whatsonstage.com Theatregoer’s Choice Awards, the results concert was never going to be a small affair – and we were thrilled to welcome so many of you to the Price of Wales theatre last week to enjoy some winning performances and see the awards being presented. The celebratory champagne flowed long into the night ensuring a good time was had by all, and for those of you who couldn’t make it, here are some of the highlights as we look forward to the next ten years of magic moments and wonderful theatre.
– Tamsin Oglesby’s furious comedy Really Old, Like Forty Five confronts head-on our embarrassment and fear about old age. It exposes a society in which our compassion collides with our prejudice and makes way for dark humour and touching observations. Currently playing in rep at the National Theatre, Oglesby takes time from rehearsing the show to talk about her personal experiences and encounters with old age and her inspiration for the piece.
– Lesley Sharp, Iain Glen, and Harry Treadaway take the leads in the Frank McGuinness version of Ibsen’s gripping, classic tale of hope in the face of infidelity and deceit, Ghosts. Last seen in the West End in 2001, the ghosts of the past return as secrets are revealed and are rapidly turned into a frightening and desperate reality.
