  • Closing?! Oh no they’re not…!
    After
several anxious months for Hackney Empire, what with much media
speculation surrounding their ‘period of substantially
reduced operation’, it’s very exciting that they
are at least mounting another rip roaring pantomime: this year, in the
shape of Aladdin. With stalwarts Clive Rowe and David Ashley on stage
and Susie McKenna at the helm, it’s sure to be a massive hit
for the Empire, and will no doubt bring a bit of festive cheer to the
    whole of East London!

  • Second star to the right and straight on until…..Leicester! Yes, after a somewhat shaky inaugural festive offering last year, The Curve brings us yet another new version of Peter Pan, drafting in West End favourite Bill Deamer for choreographic duties. At such an exciting space, this classic tale is sure to have a whole new lease of life, and will be a fitting end to a wonderfully varied year at this new venue.

  • Leeds get botanical for Christmas
Perhaps one of the best regional offerings this year is this brand new adaptation of the much loved children’s novel The Secret Garden. Directed for West Yorkshire Playhouse by Ian Brown, this promises to be an enchanting evening for children and adults alike, as the charming story is brought to life by a talented ensemble cast featuring a magical new score. If you can’t make it to Leeds this year, continuring their collaboration, The Secret Garden will be re-grown at Birmingham Rep next Christmas as their current offering A Christmas Carol gets festive at West Yorkshire Playhouse from November 2010.

  • Pan flies on….After a triumphant return to Kensington Gardens this summer, the boy who never grew up flies again this Christmas, heading east and landing at the O2. This is a thrilling outing for all the family, playing in a custom built, heated theatre tent, complete with stunning 360 degree projections which bring the story to life like never before! Rumoured to be heading stateside after its festive run at the O2, catch him while you can and enjoy the classic adventure.
