Photos: Sister Act Nuns on the Run for Charity

In the wake of the recent London marathon, a host of runners got ‘back in the habit’ for a special ‘Nun Fun Run’ on Sunday (3 May 2009), organised by the producers of forthcoming West End musical Sister Act  in aid of children’s charity Barnardos (See The Goss, 29 Apr 2009).

Hundreds of participants sporting nun costumes (which were provided on the day) completed the four mile course along both sides of the River Thames, starting and finishing at Dunster Court off Fenchurch Street in London. Before the start, Sister Act‘s new Deloris Patina Miller was on hand to a few words of encouragement, before all the participants took part in a mass warm-up (video below).

Sister Act, adapted from the hit 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg, begins previews at the Palladium tomorrow (7 May 2009), opening on 2 June (See News, 7 Nov 2008). Starring Patina Miller and Sheila Hancock, it transplants the action to 1970s Philadelphia, and features music by multiple Oscar-winner Alan Menken.
