Casting has been announced for the world premiere of new musical, The Assassination of Katie Hopkins, which opens at Theatr Clwyd in April.

Directed by James Grieve, the cast will feature Rakesh Boury (Bend It Like Beckham), Ché Francis (Toxic Avenger), Derek Hutchinson (Amadeus), Genesis Lynea (In the Heights), Maimuna Memon (Jesus Christ Superstar), Amy Booth-Steel (A Pacifist's Guide to the War On Cancer), Bethzienna Williams (professional debut) and Matthew Woodyatt (One Man, Two Guvnors).

Chris Bush and Matt Winkworth's musical does not feature the outspoken columnist herself, it instead uses her fictional death to explore truth, celebrity and public outrage.

It will have design by Lucy Osborne, musical supervision by David White, lighting by Oliver Fenwick, sound by Dominic Kennedy, musical direction by Jordan Li-Smith, movement by Lucy Hind and video by Nina Dunn.

The Assassination of Katie Hopkins runs at Theatr Clwyd from 26 April to 12 May, with previews from 20 April.
