Stars announced amid panto wars in the Northeast
When the Theatre Royal Newcastle announced Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as their 2014/15 panto It came as something of a surprise when neighbouring venue, the Sunderland Empire, announced shortly afterwards that they would be also be putting on Snow White this coming panto season.
As the two Northeast pantos battle it out for ticket sales effective promotion could be key and the Sunderland Empire fired the first shots across the Theatre Royal's bows by claiming that their production will be only one to feature "real dwarfs".
Since then, other cast announcements have been made. In Sunderland, Su Pollard (Hi-De-Hi!) will be playing the Wicked Queen and Andrew Agnew (Balamory's PC Plum) will play Muddles.
While in Newcastle, long term favourites Danny Adams, Clive Webb and Chris Hayward will all be returning for what they hope will be another record breaking year.
Snow White runs at the Sunderland Empire from 12 December 2014 – 4 January 2015 and at the Theatre Royal Newcastle from 25 November 2014 – 18 January 2015.
