Laura Mvula to write music for RSC's new season
Mercury Prize nominee is among composers announced for 2017 Rome season
MOBO and Mercury Prize nominee Laura Mvula will make her professional theatre debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company next year.
Mvula will compose the music for Iqbal Khan's new production of Antony and Cleopatra, which will form part of the RSC's Rome season. The trilogy of Shakespeare's most political plays will run in Stratford-upon-Avon between March and September 2017.
The RSC has announced all of the composers for the season.
Visual media artist and composer Mira Calix provides the music for Julius Caesar which Angus Jackson directs at the Stratford venue from 3 March 2017. A multi-award winner, Calix has worked with the London Sinfonietta, the Aldeburgh Festival and the Manchester International Festival amongst many others.
All three productions will be broadcast live to cinemas.
Julius Caesar is booking at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from 3 March to 9 September 2017, Antony and Cleopatra is booking from 11 March to 7 September 2017, and Titus Andronicus is booking from 23 June to 2 September 2017
