Murder and mystery abound in this ingenious play from the master of the genre, which has more than its fair share of blind alleys. Initially the plot seems to follow a familiar pattern – a greedy husband plotting to kill his wife. Disposing first of her brother, Jack tries to convince Sarah that she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Enlisting the help of his girlfriend he plans to murder Sarah whilst giving the impression that she has committed suicide. Jack’s plans are horribly thwarted – he, not his wife, ends up dead. But how – and by whom?
