An evening of music and dance premieres from choreographers Julia Cheng, Quang Kein Van, and composers Ruth Chan and Andy Leung, during Chinese News Year. Cheng's Silver Moon trio explores roundness, harmony and the challenge of healing broken connections. Kien Van's Lunar Orbits trio mines ancient mysteries and moon myths, with music by Philip Heeney. Chan's Moon Magmatism quintet asks why humanity has always been drawn to the moon, and how science and space travel is unravelling the moon's mysteries. Leung's The New Opium duet for electronics, 'erhu' Chinese violin and video, examines societies obsession with mass media communication and addiction to the internet.
