About This Show

Constance wants to guarantee her 9-year-old bi-racial son Elijah lives beyond his 18th birthday. He’s not sick, just black. This one woman show playfully explores that for many safety appears to have become a privilege for the few. Constance’s formidable mother Agnes has died suddenly and she’s forced to parent her son Elijah for the first time. She desperately wants to live up to her mother’s high expectations and be worthy of the tiger mum crown. This sets her on an obsessive path to get Elijah into the exclusive Cathedral College which Constance believes will get him off the street and keep him alive. However, she’ll first have to see off those who “threaten” her precious cub – his dad, hardship, testosterone, childish curiosity and imposter syndrome.

These work in progress performances of Tiger Mum brings us a timely insight in to raising sons of colour in Britain today. It’s marks the first exciting collaboration between Eva Edo and director Alice Malin. This is Eva’s debut one woman show.
