About this show

The not-too-distant future. Great Britain is mainly underwater. Only one tiny island remains. Stranded are Marilyn (28, calculating survivalist) and Josie (17, childlike). They don't get on. As the sea level rises and their food disappears tin by tin, both try to make the best of a bad situation. However, it soon becomes apparent that one woman might fare better than two...

Comic, dark and quirky in turns, Island State is the story of two women's struggle to keep going in the face of environmental catastrophe.
