Costa Brava Sunset – + Written Dance Company: Sibmerso and Azara: Just Another Night

Quirky and humorous, yet with a sense of foreboding, this playful duet finds freedom in a world where bureaucracy rules. Inspired by life in an off-season seaside resort, we explore the frustrations of being stuck in a pre-determined paradise. Two dancers traverse a line that splits the stage. Their movement gradually becomes less constrained, and the increasingly spread explore the length of the line. Finally, the line is removed all together, however entraps the dancers. They become aware they are watched by audience members and struggle to signal messages to them. Finally, frustration causes them to turn on each other – their spatial limits have been removed, but they are too engaged in their conflict to notice.
