Casting has been announced for the upcoming revival of Little Shop of Horrors at Salisbury Playhouse and the Mercury Theatre Colchester.

Ben Stott (Wicked, West End and Sweeney Todd, West Yorkshire Playhouse) will play Seymour, the down and out shop worker who becomes an overnight sensation when he grows a plant that feeds on fresh blood.

The love of his life, Audrey, is played by Frances McNamee (RSC's Love's Labour's Lost and Pride and Prejudice at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre).

Shop owner Mushnik will be played by Simeon Truby (Sweeney Todd, West End) and Jez Unwin (Once, Ghost) plays the sadistic dentist Orin.

The cast is completed by Gareth Cassidy, Leon Craig, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Karis Jack, Andrew London, Frances Mayli McCann and Carole Stennett.

Little Shop of Horrors runs at Salisbury Playhouse (23 April-16 May 2015) and the Mercury Theatre Colchester (27 May-13 June); it's the second co-production between the venues following last Summer's Betty Blue Eyes.

Director Gareth Machin said: "I'm delighted that we are, once again, collaborating with the Mercury Theatre on this exciting production that’s full of energy, sass and style, and we can’t wait to get started."
