New stage production of David Walliams' Billionaire Boy to embark on UK tour
The show will open in September
Birmingham Stage Company will tour a brand new stage production of David Walliams' bestselling novel Billionaire Boy.
Adapted and directed by Neal Foster, the play tells the story of Joe Spud who becomes the richest boy in the country – except he has no friends. The novel was first published in 2010, and adapted into a TV episode by the BBC in 2016.
Walliams said: "I absolutely loved the BSC's terrific productions of Gangsta Granny and Awful Auntie so I can't wait to see their brand-new production of Billionaire Boy! It promises to be a brilliant show!"
The new Billionaire Boy production is designed by Jackie Trousdale with lighting by Jason Taylor, sound by Nick Sagar, special effects by Scott Penrose and music by Jak Poore. The tour will open in Horsham on 26 September before touring to Hull, Northampton, High Wycombe, Richmond, Dartford, Birmingham, Glasgow, Southend-on-Sea and Leicester.
The book was previously adapted into a musical, with a UK tour for this production ongoing.
It was recently announced that Walliams' novel The Boy in the Dress would also be adapted for the stage at the RSC, with music by Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers.
