Results: Is there room for new work in the West End?

The results of our latest poll are in. Was Tim Rice right to say the public haven’t got time for new work?

In a recent interview with the BBC, Tim Rice gave his thoughts on why his latest production, From Here to Eternity, had not been the success he expected it to be.

Talking about the show he said:

"I'm wondering if there's any market out there for musicals that aren't revivals, or jukebox musicals, or based on a recent hit film or something."

Well, according to our poll there is. And not only is there room, but WhatsOnStage readers have actively supported new work with 83% of participants watching a New Musical in the last year and 70% watching a New Play.
