Chelsea Theatre has announced a new season of its live art and performances series, Sacred, which begins in October 2012.

The theatre also announced that Sacred will become an all-year event, with a second season slated to start up in March 2013 and run until July.

The first show in the upcoming season will be "performance duet" So Below, from Chelsea Theatre's Associate Artist Karen Christopher, and Gerard Bell on 19-20 October. This will be followed an eclectic week of shows including an evening with poet and author Jeremy Reed reading from his work.

Shabnam Shabazi follows with a performance of Body House (Vers. 2), "an exploration of physical & psychological displacement", on 24 October, with Dominic Johnson exploring the documentary potential of tattooing the next day. Later performances promise to turn Chelsea Theatre audiences into an impromptu cabaret, as well as more  traditional exhibitions and art events springing up in the venue's foyer.

The series will also extend to the Battersea Arts Centre in November, with Tim Etchells, artistic director of Forced Entertainment, presenting Sight is the Sense that Dying People Tend to Lose First in association with the Chelsea Theatre from 22-24 November.

Francis Alexander, Sacred's artistic director added "It's a pleasure to be letting Sacred just relax into a whole year's worth of new work... Sacred offers a huge range of potentially the most exciting artists to be seen in London over the next year."
