From now until the end of August, we’re concentrating on – guess what? – Edinburgh and we’re going weekly rather than fortnightly with our regular video picks feature, in conjunction with the Whatsonstage.com Television channel, a rapidly expanding archive of theatre-related video content. As well as our exclusive first night reports, we regularly add show trailers, event promos, interviews, video diaries and behind-the-scenes footage.
You can view these – & many more – clips on the Whatsonstage.com Television Channel. If you’ve seen something you think is worth a watch for theatregoers, then please email us the clip or a link to it. Thanks for watching!.
Sammy J’s back – After a triumphant appearance at last year’s festival, Sammy J in the Forest of Dreams is back this year for more nonsensical puppet fun for all those grown up kids. It’s sort of an adult antidote for all those who grew tired and disillusioned with the Disney promise and longed for something with a bit more bite. Well, Sammy J certainly delivers and can be found at the Cow Barn as part of the Underbelly’s 10th Birthday throughout August.
Catwalk Confidential – A world of decadence, brilliant ideas and genius designs is the setting for Robyn Peterson’s funny and revealing one woman play, making its UK debut at this year’s Fringe Festival. Full of exotic and fascinating characters, Catwalk Confidential is part fairytale, part romance, and tells the real life story of a determined American teenager who falls deeply and hopelessly in love with Paris. We are invited to strut down the catwalks beside her and take in this shifting world where relentless pain is synonymous with beauty and beauty is all that matters.
Fat Club: The Musical – Does happiness come hand in hand with being thin? Playing in the main space at C Venues with tongue firmly in cheek, Fat Club is a refreshingly original musical comedy that follows the lives of five wannabe dieters at an up-and-coming slimming club and their sadistic team leader. Featuring a wide variety of brand new songs and music, Fat Club pokes some much-needed fun at the industry of fad dieting as well as the media generated ideals of the body beautiful. Best enjoyed with super size popcorn, a bucket of Coke and a large ice cream… with a flake!
