Set in Rome (naturally), young Quintus (Jonathan Cordin) must find an
honourable wife. Instead he falls for the beautiful slave girl Melissa
(Lucie Shorthouse) and naturally, hilarity ensues. Although the ending
isn’t the one the characters or the audience hope for, Rob Thorman’s
production is so much fun that I hardly care. With outstanding
choreography by Jennie May Dunne and a hysterical double act by slaves
Grumio and Clemens (Tom England and Tom Pye), this is a triumphant
romp from start to finish. If you’re looking for a bit of silliness,
this brilliantly ludicrous show should hit the spot.
