A group of motorbike enthusiasts who work as technicians in the theatre and entertainment industry – the ‘First Night Riders’ – recently donned their leathers and helmets to embark on an eight-day, 1,400 mile trip to raise money for The Theatrical Guild. They started at the National Theatre on 5 June, where they were waved off by supporters from stage and screen including Belinda Lang, Liz Robertson, Ramin Karimiloo, Tim Pigott-Smith, Issy van Randwyck, Julian and Jamie Glover, Jane How, Trevor Peacock and Tilly Tremayne – as well as NT staff.

The bikers are visiting as many interesting and historical theatres as they can while raising money for The Theatrical Guild, which exists for the purposes of helping all those in need that have been or are currently employed in professional theatre (it’s the only charity in the UK available to Front of House and Backstage staff).
