The TMA (Theatrical Management Association) have awarded the Theatre Royal, Newcastle ,as the winner of the Renee Stepham Award for the Presentation of Touring Theatres.

This award is named in honour of Renee Stepham who during her lifetime made an outstanding and unique contribution to regional theatre. The Renee Stepham Award celebrates the presentation and promotion of middle or large scale touring. The award recognises excellence in presenting touring productions and the contribution to the cultural economy of the UK by presenting venues and the companies and producers with whom they work. Nominations for this award will demonstrate success in supporting touring artists, programming touring productions and audience development through collaboration or partnerships between presenting venues and touring companies and producers.

Nominations for the award can be made by an individual theatre or arts venue for their own programme of work or a touring company or producer may submit a nomination for their particular contribution to the UK touring network. Nominations may also be made by a venue, touring company or producer to recognise the work of another organisation or individual. Nominations should be in recognition of a body of work; not for a single production.
