If the festival is beginning to stress you out, I can think of no
faster remedy than The Singalong Glee Club. Written and
performed by David Benson and Stewart Nicholls, the audience is
conducted in a mass singsong of nostalgic, fun songs from yesteryear.
There is a real mix here, with Benson and Nicholls taking us through
long-forgotten songs about bananas as well as indulging audience
requests. From eclectic medleys to pop quizzes on advertising jingles,
this is a joyous show from start to finish.

In fairness, such a show will only be as good as the audience make it;
but Benson and Nicholls’ sheer love for the songs can only fail to
move the hardest of hearts. By the end, I was breathless from singing:
as I left, Benson touched my arm and said ‘you were great.’ No David,
you brought the glee; I merely sang along.
