Anyone venturing into central London this weekend can’t fail to have noticed West End Live, with thousands of people turning out to see some of Theatreland’s biggest stars, including Jodie Prenger (Oliver!), Patina Miller (Sister Act) and Jerry Springer (Chicago), strut their stuff in Leicester Square.

Now in it’s fifth year, West End Live is the largest free theatre festival in the world, featuring the biggest shows in the West End alongside street entertainment, live broadcasts, arts workshops and interactive exhibitions from some of London’s top museums and tourist attractions. Whatsonstage.com was also there, giving away over £5,000 worth of Radisson Edwardian hotel breaks and offering visitors a whopping 50% discount on annual membership to the Whatsonstage.com Theatre Club.

The many shows participating this year included Hairspray, Wicked, Been So Long, Dirty Dancing, The King and I, Sister Act, We Will Rock You, Priscilla, Jersey Boys, Chicago, Thriller Live, Too Close to the Sun, Tom Tom Crew, So Jest End and Forbidden Broadway (See News, 19 Jun 2009).
