Norfox present Emily Law and Arturo at Capital Theatre, 6 Aug

Following their last performance at their Central Library, The Capitol Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University is the venue for The Magnificent Tale of Emily Law and Arturo the Waterboy, the seventh production from the norfox Young People’s Theatre Company, based at Manchester’s Library Theatre Company.

Inspired by the darker side of life as it was lived in grimy Victorian Manchester, The Magnificent Tale of Emily Law and Arturo the Waterboy will be performed by 17 young actors aged between 15-18, all of whom live in Manchester.

Developed following research undertaken in venues and attractions including Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester Art Gallery, Quarry Bank Mill in Styal, and the Black Country Living History Museum in Dudley, the production has been made possible by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Young Roots Programme.

“We discussed the ideas the performers came up with following their research in a series of workshops,” explains Liz Postlethwaite, the show’s director, who is the Library Theatre Company’s Community and Education Director, “and the script has been written from those workshops. It is set in a circus, and it will be dark and romantic. Come in to Odditopia – it’s an incredible sideshow which will be the experience of a lifetime!”

The Magnificent Tale of Emily Law and Arturo the Waterboy is at the Capitol Theatre from 6 – 7 August.
