Good afternoon one and all, I come to you live (if you can call a diary, be it penned or blogged, ‘live’) from the fair city of Edinburgh! Yes, that’s right ladies and gentlemen we’ve traveled all the way here, to Edinburgh, from distant Oxfordshire. How did we accomplish this modern miracle in less than a full week we hear you cry? Why horseless carriage of course!
We left Oxford at midnight last night, or this morning, well 00:00, Sunday, August 1st. We drove tirelessly through the night surviving on nothing but vegetable fried rice, foam shrimps, Chess (the musical not the game, most difficult when driving you understand) and a shared love of silly place names. We arrived at the foot of Arthur’s Seat at 8:13 this morning suitably weary and in need of a good breakfast.
By 10:00 we had unpacked and we’re heading off to the Gilded Balloon. We said hello to some familiar faces and made some new friends. Then off to the Royal Mile to meet Mr Ian Kendall, a fellow prestidigitator who spends his days entertaining the passers by with marvelous magic and quick-witted quips in a variety of languages.
Finally, with all our affairs in order, we retired to our accommodation where I am writing this now. We’ve just discovered that the lovely people at FringeReview.co.uk have decided to recommend us here and that we were mentioned in an article in The Observer about cabarets at the Fringe. Splendid.
Right, I’m off to bed. At 4pm. Piloting a horseless carriage for eight hours in the middle of the night is frankly exhausting. See you on the mile!
