Les Mis dreams a dream at Palace

Les Miserables returns to Manchester next month as part of  UK and International tour.

Currently at Cardiff, the show then arrives at the Palace Theatre in Manchester from 19 January until 13 February 2010. The tour also stops at other regions in the UK, including Norwich, Birmingham and Edinburgh.

Created by Cameron Mackintosh, Les Miserables tells the story of Jean Valjean, released on parole after 19 years on the chain gang, finds that the yellow ticket-of-leave he must, by law, display condemns him to be an outcast. Only the saintly Bishop of Digne treats him kindly and Valjean, embittered by years of hardship, repays him by stealing some silver. Valjean is caught and brought back by police, and is astonished when the Bishop lies to the police to save him, also giving him two precious candlesticks. Valjean decides to start a new life.

Recently the show has reached a new audience via the hit TV show Britain’s Got Talent, as Susan Boyle chose to sing “I Dreamed A Dream” at her audition and on the live shows, receiving millions of hits on You Tube.

The show last appeared in Manchester nine years ago. This new tour is directed by Laurence Connor and James Powell and stars Gareth Gates.
