Latitude: New Bryony Kimmings and Middle Child work announced in festival line-up
The festival runs in Suffolk this summer
The line-up for this year's Latitude Festival has been announced, with new work by Bryony Kimmings, Middle Child and Sadler's Wells all included in the programme.
The Suffolk-based festival, which lasts from 12 to 15 July, has a variety of theatre, comedy and dance acts running alongside its musical performances. Bryony Kimmings will present her new work in progress piece I'm A Phoenix, B***h, her first solo show in almost a decade. The performance will combine film, soundscape and a number of Kimmings' personal stories. Her show, A Pacifist's Guide to the War on Cancer is currently touring the UK after opening in Liverpool.
Hull-based theatre company Middle Child will present a new gig-theatre show at the festival – One Life Stand, an Edinburgh Fringe preview about sex and companionship in the modern age. The company return to the festival after last year's show All We Ever Wanted Was Everything opened there before running at Summerhall's Roundabout in Edinburgh.
Lyric Hammersmith will present musical How To Fail At Being Perfect, a sci-fi reimagining of the story of Peter Pan. The show was presented as part of the Young Lyric season in summer 2017.
Theatre Ad Infinitum will preview their new Edinburgh show, No Kids, about gay couples and procreation, while Nabokov will perform Benin City, a spoken word and music experience about how nightclubs are slowly disappearing from London. Mark And Marichka Marczyk (responsible for Counting Sheep at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016) will deliver the UK premiere of Balaklava Blues, exploring historical and cultural forces in modern day Ukraine.
Other companies at the festival include Fireraisers in their new imagined history piece Femme Fatale and Dom Coyote, presenting a surreal new take about time travel. David Rosenberg and Glenn Neath will premiere a new immersive show set in a 40ft container, while Highrise will explore the history of grime music in Lil.Miss.Lady.
Sadler's Wells will return to the festival, with their line-up to be announced.
Musical acts at the festival include The Killers, Solange and Alt-J, while comedians performing include Bridget Christie, Harry Hill, Tim Key and Jonathan Pie.
