The Donmar Warehouse production of King Lear opens in the famous Covent Garden venue in December. But for any Northwest Theatregoers who have missed out on tickets, help is at hand, as the production is headed for the Lowry.
Starring Derek Jackobi and directed by Michael Grandage, William Shakespeare‘s King Lear is decribed as one of the greatest works in Western Literature. The piece explores the very nature of human existence: love and duty, power and loss, good and evil.
“Who is it that can tell me who I am?” An ageing monarch. A kingdom divided. A child’s love rejected. As Lear’s world descends into chaos, all that he once believed is brought into question.
Following its sell-out run in London’s West End, King Lear, featuring Jacobi in the title role, comes to Salford for one week only.
King Lear runs at the Lowry from 22 – 26 March. For further details, please visit the Lowry website.
