The full cast has been announced for Out of Joint’s upcoming revival of Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good, with Dominic Thorburn and Laura Dos Santos in the starring roles.

The production, directed by Max Stafford-Clark, will tour the country from September 3 before settling at the St James Theatre in London from 30 January to 9 March 2013.

Thorburn, joining the cast from Edward Hall’s acclaimed productions of Henry V and The Winter’s Tale, will play Lieutenant Ralph Clark and Dos Santos (Educating Rita,Mernier Chocolate Factory) will play Mary Brenham.

Our Country’s Good is set in Australia in 1789 – Thorburn’s Lieutenant Clark attempts to direct Australia’s first ever play, featuring a cast of convicts. Matters are further complicated by the fact that Lieutenant Clark is in love with Dos Santos’ Mary Brenham – the play is billed as “trouble from the start.”

Other casting includes Ian Redford (Six Degrees of Separation (Old Vic), Keith Appleyard in TV’s Coronation Street) as Captain Campbell, Harry Brewer, and convict John Arscott. Helen Bradbury (The Last Duchess (Hampstead Theatre) and Crash) will play Dabby Bryant and William Faddy and Lisa Kerr as Duckling Smith. Damola Adelaja, John Hollingworth, Matthew Needham, Kathryn O’Reilly and Ciarán Owens complete the cast.
