Manchester will play host to an array of West End and TV stars this December with the announcement that Earl Carpenter, Tiffany Graves, Jenny Douglas, Ashley J Russell and Amanda Coutts will be joining the cast of the Queen and Ben Elton musical, We Will Rock You.
They will join Noel Sullivan, Ian Reddington and Leon Lopez when the smash-hit production opens its second UK tour at the Manchester Palace Theatre on 3rd December 2010 to 15th January 2011.
Carpenter recently wowed the audiences in Manchester as part of the touring production of Les Miserables and he will be returning to the city to play Khashoggi – Head of the Secret Police who answers to the Killer Queen’s every demand. Earl has starred in Phantom of the Opera, The Witches of Eastwick and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Tiffany Graves, who has performed in the West End for many years in Chicago, and recently Sweet Charity and Cats, will be taking on the role of the domineering evil Killer Queen, Head of Globalsoft, the corporation responsible for the banning of all instruments and musical originality.
Also confirmed for the UK Tour is Scottish BBC1 Over The Rainbow star Jenny Douglas who will play the part of Meat, the main female of the Bohemians and fellow Scot Ashley J Russell returns to the tour to reprise her previous role of the Teacher, who works as a spy for Globalsoft’s Secret Police. Amanda Coutts, whose previous West End credits include Fame, Footloose and West Side Story, will play the female heroine Scaramouche.
Speaking about the tour Earl Carpenter said: “I can’t quite believe how much I’m looking forward to joining this musical and to be going back to Manchester for Christmas – having performed there twice already this year! I believe I should say I’m ‘limp with excitement’…. to quote Khashoggi'”
We Will Rock You runs at the Palace Theatre in Manchester from 3rd December – 15th January.
