All-Star Concerts of Michael Bruce & Lance Horne

The music of 25-year-old Michael Bruce, who last week won two Whatsonstage.com-sponsored Musical Theatre Matters Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe for Ed: The Musical, will be showcased in a one-night-only concert, Michael Bruce: A Little Less Ordinary, performed by a stellar cast – including Julie Atherton, Helena Blackman, Daniel Boys, Sarah Lark and Paul Spicer – at the West End’s Apollo Theatre at 7.30pm on Sunday 1 November 2009.
Bruce first took to the stage as a dancer in Nutcracker, going on to become Highland Dancing Scottish Champion. He studied as a singer/songwriter at Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and, since graduating, has worked as a musical director on numerous shows and cruise ships. In 2007, he won the first Notes for The Stage competition, for up-and-coming British musical writers.

Michael Bruce: A Little Less Ordinary is produced by competition co-promoters and founders of the Notes from New York concert series, Neil Eckersley and Paul Spicer for Speckulation Entertainment.

Ahead of Michael Bruce: A Little Less Ordinary, Speckulation are this week presenting another one-off concert, this one showcasing the work of Emmy Award-winning American composer Lance Horne, who is currently in town as the musical director of Alan Cumming’s new one-man show I Bought a Blue Car Today, also produced by Speckulation.

Notes Unleashed! The Music of Lance Horne will take place this Thursday 3 September 2009 at the West End’s Vaudeville Theatre at 11pm, after the performance of I Bought a Blue Car Today. Cumming will perform along with Julie Atherton, Aneurin Barnard, Simon Burke, Alexandra Silber, Hannah Waddingham and Emma Williams. The concert is held in support of the National AIDS Trust.
