Afternoon Tea at Buxton Festival, July

Following recent success at Taurus in Manchester Afternoon Tea returns to the region, this time at the Buxton Festival. This new play by Organised Chaos Productions follows a day when nothing goes wrong over
afternoon tea – at least until William and Abigail (Laurence Pickford
and Julie Burrow) and Jean and Poppy (Celia Carron and Diane
Rimmer) coincide in the same Tea Room.

Enjoying a saucy weekend
away, it is slowly emerging that Abigail’s expectation of wedding bells
is as far away from William’s alternative intentions as possible.
Meanwhile Jean and Poppy are indulging in their favourite occupation of
gossiping, a little about themselves, but more enticingly about almost
anyone else.

Organised Chaos Productions, headed by Gayle Hare, Kirsty Fox and Mark Creamer, have extensive experience in production, with credits in both film and theatre. Between them they have produced, managed, directed or performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the National Student Drama Festival, The Lowry, Studio Salford and the 24/7 festival and, of course, at Buxton. This will, however, be their first visit to Buxton together as Organised Chaos.

This innovative company also stage The Benefit of Time’ written by Terri-Ann Brumby whose previous works have been broadcast by the BBC and short-listed for theatre awards. Debbie Green is a plain lady, working in Human Resources. Donald Cruickshank is her celebrity-seeking hypnotherapist. Can Debbie’s colourful “previous life” reshape her mundane existence? “You are currently in a dormant life, which means you are a very old soul that has had many traumatic or extraordinary existences. That’s why you’re boring.”
