Liverpool’s Bang on Top Productions, creators of comedy play One Night in Istanbul, are searching for a talented local young actress to play Anthea in its new play Brick Up: The Wirral Strikes Back – following in the footsteps of the smash hit show Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels.
Brick Up: The Wirral Strikes Back, which runs at the Liverpool Empire from 7-18 September 2010, is the latest offering from acclaimed Liverpudlian playwright Nicky Allt and comes in the wake of One Night in Istanbul enjoying a second run in Liverpool and a sell-out premiere in Dublin this spring.
Now, Allt and Bang on Top are giving young women, aged 18 or above, the chance to audition for the part of Anthea, a character in her late teens. Auditions for this role will take place on Friday 6 August.
The original Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels, which Allt co-wrote with Dave Kirby, has has been praised for bringing the popular masses back to Liverpool theatre and helped inspire the upturn and popularity of Liverpool theatre culture.
Brick Up: The Wirral Strikes Back premieres at the Liverpool Empire in September. The show takes a tongue in cheek look at the recent economic downturn and the traditional rivalries between Liverpool and the Wirral.
Those wishing to audition should email bangontopcasting@gmail.com with their contact information and details of any relevant experience, plus a recent photograph, which does not need to be professional.
Auditions will be held Bang on Top’s Rodney Street offices, and applicants who have been successful in obtaining an audition will be notified of their time slot and audition details via email.
*Please note these are not open auditions and those interested must apply via email in the first instance.
