The transfer from Chichester of the South Downs and The Browning Version double bill opened at the Harold Pinter theatre last night (25 April 2012).
South Downs is written by David Hare as a companion piece to Terence Rattigan‘s classic, The Browning Version. Both are set in a public school and revolve around a small act of kindness.
Anna Chancellor and
Nicholas Farrell star in both plays . They are joined by 17-year-old newcomer Alex Lawther who plays
the central role of Blakemore in South Downs and Mark Umbers and Liam Morton in The Browning Version. Others in the cast includeJonathan Bailey, Bradley Hall, Colin Jenkins, Tom Spink, Andrew Woodall, Amanda Fairbank-Hynes, Rob Heaps and Mark Elstob
