Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Kiss Me, Kate opened at the Old Vic last night (27 November 2012), having transferred to London.

Cole Porter‘s 1948 Tony-Award-winning musical focuses on the out-of-town try-out of a new musical version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Sparks fly on stage and off as sparring between the co-stars threatens the opening night.

Cast at the first-night party, which was held at the Old Vic Tunnels, included Jason Pennycooke, Tim Walton, Wendy Mae Brown, Adam Garcia, Hannah Waddingham and Alex Bourne.

Others joining in the celebrations included Mark Gatiss, Rupert Penry-Jones,  Natalie Dormer, Fenella Woolgar, Belinda Lang, and Nicolas Kent.
