The Importance of Being Earnest at The Watermill cast announced
Casting has been announced for the Watermill's revival of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest.
The cast includes Charlotte Beaumont (Broadchurch) as Cecily, Peter Bray (Twelfth Night) as Algernon, Jim Creighton (The Best Man) as Dr Chasuble, Claudia Jolly (Girl From The North Country) as Gwendolyn, Wendy Nottingham (Grief) as Miss Prism, Morgan Philpott (Partners in Crime) as Lane/Merriman, Benedict Salter (Lady Windermere's Fan) as Jack and Connie Walker (Trestle) as Lady Bracknell.
Directed by Kate Bugden, the piece follows Jack Worthing who leads a double life by splitting his time between the town and the countryside. The piece is designed by Amy Jane Cook, lighting is designed by Sally Ferguson and sound design is by Jon McLeod. It runs from 23 May to 29 June.
The Newbury theatre recently announced its autumn season, including a revival of Kiss Me, Kate and Assassins.
