JB Shorts 10 set for Manchester

When a group of TV writers got together in March 2009 to produce an evening of six fifteen minute plays, none of them envisaged anything other than a “one-off” bit of fun on the Manchester fringe.
Fast forward to November 2013 and the team will be celebrating the tenth re-incarnation of JB Shorts and, with that, a whopping 100 performances.
As a celebration of these milestones, JB Shorts welcomes back writers, actors and directors from throughout the vibrant history of the Shorts.
Dave Simpson offers up a delightful sequel to the well received Blind Date from JB9. Peter Kerry portrays a unique slice of history with a meeting between Mozart and Beethoven and James Quinn serves up a bite-sized love story with a twist.
New Tricks and Midsummer Murders writer, Lisa Holdsworth is back – following her much-praised appearance on Radio 4’s Any Questions, as is Diane Whitley, while Trevor Suthers fittingly completes his trilogy of hilarious back-stage comedies with What A Performance!
Well-known actor Sushil Chudasama makes his directorial debut, while Chris Bridgman, who directed the first ever Short in JB Shorts 1, makes a welcome return. Former Library Theatre Director Elisa Amesbury returns to Manchester for ‘JB10 and JB Shorts regulars Alice Bartlett and Miranda Parker also return. JB Shorts directorial debutant, Malcolm Raeburn, completes the line-up.
JB Shorts 10 welcomes back celebrated actor Arthur Bostrom for his fourth JB Shorts. Bostrom will appear in Diane Whitley’s play Relate. Will Travis and Susan McCardle, meanwhile, will reprise their roles In Blind Date 2.
JB Shorts 10 is at Joshua Brooks in Manchester from 19 – 30 November.
