The Young Vic has announced two new children's productions in the Maria studio this winter.

Fevered Sleep will return to the Young Vic in November with Dusk, a show for four to seven year-olds devised and directed by David Harradine and Samantha Butler.

Combining film and live performance, it's billed as "an exploration and celebration of the wild world around us".

Brilliant, Fevered Sleep's last show for children, played two sold-out runs at the venue in 2009 and 2013. Dusk runs from 13 to 29 November 2014.

It's followed in the Maria by The Way Back Home (11-23 December), adapted from Oliver Jeffers popular book by the English National Opera.

Jeffers’ illustrations will be captured in puppetry and animations as part of this brand new opera by Katie Mitchell and Vicki Mortimer, who collaborated on The Cat in the Hat.

Written for children aged five and upwards, The Way Back Home tells the story of a young boy who befriends an alien on the moon.

Composed by Joanna Lee with libretto by Rory Mullarkey, The Way Back Home marks the sixth co-production between the Young Vic and the English National Opera as well as being ENO’s first opera for children.
