Casting has been announced for Paul Miller's inaugural production as artistic director of the Orange Tree Theatre, The Widowing of Mrs Holroyd?

Ellie Piercy will take the lead as Lizzie Holroyd, a 1914 working class woman on the edge, who faces a dilemma: to stick with the life she's been dealt or to escape.

Joining Piercy in Miller's production will be Gyuri Sarossy, Polly Hemingway, Jordan Mifsud, Heather Johnson, Maggie O’Brien and Jamie Satterthwaite.

Leading lady Ellie Piercy's recent credits include Beatrice in Maria Aberg’s production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Royal Exchange, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and Helena in All’s Well That Ends Well at Shakespeare’s Globe.

The original play by DH Lawrence, set in the tight knit community of a Midlands mining town, returns Miller to Lawrence's work, having directed a successful production of The Daughter-in-Law at the Sheffield Crucible last year.

The show will run from 3 September to 4 October 2014.
