Wayne McGregor Choreographs Swimming Championships

Wayne McGregor has choreographed the opening ceremony of the World Swimming Championships with fellow dance maker Ismael Ivo. Cheekily entitled Hold Your Breath, the ceremony takes place on 18 July at the historic Stadio Dei Marmi (Marble Stadium) in Rome, followed by the two-week competition which features diving, polo, synchronized swimming, and open water swimming as well as pool events.

The ever busy McGregor, who has been The Royal Ballet’s Resident Choreographer since 2006, has three of his ballets in the Royal’s 2009/10 season, including a premier in November. He also premieres new work with Australian Ballet in August and his own company Random Dance at Sadler’s Wells in October.
