As Mark Ravenhill’s play is revived twenty years on, we went backstage at the Lyric Hammersmith to find out more

We went backstage during rehearsals for Shopping and F***ing at Lyric Hammersmith to chat with playwright Mark Ravenhill, director Sean Holmes and actor Sam Spruell.

The production marks 20 years since Ravenhill's play had its original premiere at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs. Lyric artistic director Holmes helms the production, which follows three disaffected young adults and looks at the effect of consumerism as a replacement for moral codes.

The play caused a stir at its premiere in 1996, with some people shocked by its sexually violent content.
