Unicorn Theatre announces new season

The season features Tim Crouch, Timberlake Wertenbaker and a musical about fairytale villains

Purni Morell has announced the new season at the Unicorn Theatre, featuring work from Timberlake Wertenbaker, Tim Crouch and Nancy Harris.

The Actors Touring Company will visit the venue with a co-production of Marius von Mayenburg's Martyr, running from 15 September to 10 October 2015. Ramin Gray's production considers how far we should go in accommodating another’s faith, and when we should take a stand for our own opposing beliefs, and is suitable for everyone aged 15 and over.

The theatre will also see the UK premiere of Timberlake Wertenbaker's new My Father, Odysseus, featuring as part of its Greek season alongside Adam Peck's Minotaur. Both productions see Greek myths reimagined for younger audiences; My Father, Odysseus, which runs from 13 March to 10 April 2016, is suitable for those aged 11 and over, and Minotaur, which runs from 24 January to 2 April, is suitable for 8 .

Artistic director Morell will helm a new musical about fairytale villains by Nancy Harris and Marc Teitler. Baddies: the Musical will run from 3 November to 24 December 2015.

The season also includes a new physical theatre show directed by Tim Crouch called Jeramee, Hartleby and Oooglemore, running from 6 February to 20 March and dance pieces including Raw (running 16-17 October) and Dance Umbrella: Unplugged (24-25 October).

Christmas shows at the venue include Breaking the Ice, running from 2 September to 4 October, The Snow Child, running from 18 November to 3 January and Once Upon A Christmas, running from 8 to 23 December.
