5) Fool for Love

31 October to 17 December, Found 111


Joe McGann and Lydia Wilson star in the final performance at Found 111, the temporary theatre space in the old Foyles building on Charing Cross Road.

With Buried Child soon to open at the Trafalgar Studios, it's one of two Sam Shepard revivals running in the West End this winter.

4) What Shadows

1 to 12 November, Birmingham Repertory Theatre


Ian McDiarmid stars as Enoch Powell in the world premiere of Chris Hannan's new play.

What Shadows tells the story of Powell's "rivers of blood" speech and its effects on the community 30 years later.

3) Breaking the Code

2 to 19 November, Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester


Hugh Whitemore's play about World War Two mathematician Alan Turing is revived by Robert Hastie with Manchester-born actor Daniel Rigby as Turing.

The cast also includes Phil Cheadle, Natalie Dew and Harry Egan.


2) The Last Five Years

2 to 26 November, St James Theatre


Tony Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown directs this new production of his musical starring Samantha Barks and Jonathan Bailey.

It's one of the last productions at the venue before it rebrands to The Other Palace, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Paul Taylor-Mills' venture to promote new musical theatre writing.

1) King Lear

4 November to 2 December, Old Vic Theatre


Glenda Jackson leads an all-star cast including Celia Imrie as Goneril, Morfydd Clark as Cordelia and Jane Horrocks as Regan.

Further casting includes Rhys Ifans as Fool, Simon Manyonda as Edmond and Harry Melling as Edgar. Phew...
